Every year the Masters Tournament takes place in April at Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia, USA. The course opened in 1932, and the first Masters Tournament was played in 1934 when the winner was Horton Smith. The Masters Tournament is one of the Four Major Tournaments of the year, the others being The U.S. Open, the British Open and The PGA Championship.
Last year, Tiger Wood won the Masters Tournament in a play off with Chris DiMarco. This was his fourth victory in the event, so he returns this year as defending champion. This year’s tournament takes place from April 6 to April 9.
Shigeki Maruyama and Shingo Katayama will be the only Japanese players in the tournament this year. Maruyama has played 8 times in the tournament, he has made the cut 3 times and his best finish was 14th place in 2002. Katayama has played 4 times in the tournament, he has made the cut 3 times and his best finish was 33rd in 2005.
This year, 99 players are eligible to play in the Masters Tournament, but the hot favorite will be Tiger Woods.
